Tesla doubled the European referral reward to about 2,000 km
From roughly 1,000 km to roughly 2,000 km of free Supercharging in April 2026 — the single largest change to a referral reward anywhere this year, and it did not travel to every market.
In April 2026 Tesla raised the mainland European referral reward from roughly 1,000 km of free Supercharging to roughly 2,000 km. On a site organised by country, the fact worth filing is not the doubling itself but its boundary: the increase did not travel to every market flying a European flag. Dated 2 September 2026.

Why this is the year's largest referral change
Because it moved a buyer's reward rather than the programme's plumbing. 2026's other changes narrowed eligibility (Model S and Model X removed in March) or re-priced the thing a reward is measured against (FSD becoming subscription-only). This one doubled what a European buyer actually receives.
The error it created
Every European page acquired a fresh number to copy at the moment UK pages were also being updated, and the mainland figure has since spread onto UK guides. A UK page quoting 2,000 km overstates the UK benefit by close to double, and it is now the most-copied error in this niche.
What the doubling did not change
The clock. Supercharging distance still expires six months from the Grant Date, against twelve months for a referrer's Tesla Credits. A bigger allowance on the same deadline is harder to spend, not easier: roughly 2,000 km is about eight to twelve Supercharger stops at ordinary consumption, in a six-month window.
Which raises the risk of waste
Generosity and spendability are different variables. An owner who cannot charge at home will consume 2,000 km without changing a plan. An owner with a home wallbox and a cheap overnight tariff now has twice as much allowance to route deliberately through public chargers, against a low marginal saving — and the 30-day warning email is the only prompt they will get.
The directory reading
One programme, three rewards, and a change that applied to one of them. That is the whole argument for organising referral information by country rather than by headline: the same event is a doubling in Berlin, nothing in Manchester, and irrelevant in Austin.
