Stack a Tesla Referral Code With Local EV Incentives

A referral code is never the only saving on the table — every market I track has at least one government or tax incentive that stacks on top, and most buyers never look it up. Here's what genuinely stacks, market by market, dated July 13, 2026.

United States — the federal credit stacks cleanly

The US referral reward (3 months of free FSD Supervised, ≈$297) is a Tesla program and is entirely separate from the federal clean-vehicle credit. Where you qualify, the credit applies as a point-of-sale price reduction, and the FSD trial rides on top of that. Confirm current eligibility with the IRS before you order — MSRP caps, battery-sourcing rules and your income all matter, and the program has been politically contested.

United Kingdom — the real money is in company-car tax

≈ 650 free Supercharging miles is worth roughly £67–£72, which is honestly small next to the UK's headline EV saving: low Benefit-in-Kind tax on an electric company car. If you're ordering through a salary-sacrifice scheme or as a business vehicle, the BiK rate dwarfs the referral value on its own. Check current BiK rates on GOV.UK — they rise a percentage point a year.

Germany — the 0.25% Dienstwagen rule

Germany's referral reward is Supercharging credit, not FSD (FSD isn't approved for public use there). The bigger German saving is the reduced 0.25% taxable-benefit rate for electric company cars under the list-price cap — it's why so many German Teslas are business registrations. The old consumer Umweltbonus purchase subsidy ended in 2023 and hasn't returned, so don't budget for a purchase grant.

France — check which factory built your car first

France is the market where stacking gets genuinely complicated. The referral gives 1,000 km of free Supercharging, but the bonus écologique now depends on an environmental score — the Berlin-built Model Y qualifies, a Shanghai-built Model 3 does not. The old prime à la conversion scrappage bonus was abolished on 1 January 2026, so ignore any page still listing it.

Netherlands — bijtelling, and a reward in flux

The Dutch referral reward has been free Supercharging km, and the bigger stacking opportunity is bijtelling — the reduced taxable addition for electric company cars up to a list-price cap, which matters far more to lease drivers than the referral itself. One wrinkle: the Netherlands became the first EU country to approve FSD (Supervised) in April 2026, so the referral reward itself may be shifting from Supercharging toward an FSD trial — check your order summary rather than assuming it's still Supercharging by the time you order.

Spain — Plan Auto+ succeeded Plan MOVES III

Spain's referral reward is free Supercharging km, sometimes shown as a credit near €500. On the government side, Plan MOVES III ended on 31 December 2025 and was replaced by Plan Auto+ for 2026 — a purchase subsidy administered by the autonomous communities, so amounts and timing vary by región. There's also an IRPF income-tax deduction claimed on your tax return rather than at the point of sale; both are separate from, and stack with, the referral.

Australia — FBT exemption, not a purchase grant

Australia's referral is a cash-style discount (≈ A$350 (Model 3)), and it's compatible with the Fringe Benefits Tax exemption for eligible EVs under the luxury-car-tax fuel-efficient threshold — worth thousands a year for a novated lease or work car, far more than the referral itself.

The one rule that doesn't change by country

Every incentive above is a government or employer scheme — none of them touch your referral reward, and none of them cost the referring owner their $250 in Tesla Credits (capped at 10/year on their side). Stack what you're eligible for; just verify it on the primary source before you rely on the number.
