"When" matters almost as much as "which code" — both for you as a buyer and for the owner sharing theirs. Here's the honest timing advice, dated July 13, 2026.

As a buyer: before the configurator, not during it

The only timing rule that actually changes your outcome is this: click the referral link before you touch Tesla's configurator. The benefit attaches to your session the moment the link loads; it cannot be attached once a Reservation Number exists. There's no "best day of the week" or seasonal trick beyond that — the program itself doesn't run limited-time windows the way a retail sale does.

Watch markets that are mid-transition

Most countries are stable, but the Netherlands isn't right now: the RDW approved FSD (Supervised) for public use on 10 April 2026, the first EU approval, so Tesla may be shifting the Dutch reward from free Supercharging km toward an FSD trial. If you're ordering there this year, the timing of your order can change which benefit you actually get — confirm it in the order summary, not from a page written a few months ago.

As a referrer: spread your 10-a-year cap sensibly

Owners are capped at 10 successful referrals per calendar year for the $250-credit reward. Order time vs delivery time — know which checkpoint applies

Cybertruck buyers: timing narrows further

If you're ordering a Cybertruck on a referral, remember the reward only applies to Premium AWD and Cyberbeast configurations — Dual-Motor AWD is excluded. Confirming your trim before you click doesn't change when to click, but it avoids a wasted step if you switch trims later and assume the referral simply carries over.

Re-verify close to your actual order date

Every figure on this site is dated for a reason: Tesla adjusts the program periodically, and it changed substantially as recently as March 2026 (cash discounts retired, Model S/X removed, FSD trial introduced in North America).
