It's easy to lump every Tesla-adjacent saving into one mental bucket. It isn't one bucket — it's at least three, and they stack independently rather than competing with each other. Here's the full stack, dated July 13, 2026, using the reported North America Charging Membership figures alongside this site's own referral and incentive numbers.

Three separate levers, easy to conflate

Tesla reports 60,000+ Superchargers across North America with full Model Y access, and a paid Charging Membership at $12.99/month that lowers the per-kWh Supercharging rate — reportedly paying for itself at four or more Supercharging sessions a month. Put next to a referral reward and a government EV incentive, it's tempting to average all three into one "how much Tesla saves me" number. That's the wrong frame — each one comes from a different source, with different rules, and stacking them correctly means understanding them separately first.

What each layer actually is

Referral reward (Tesla, one-time per order) — in North America, 3 months of free FSD (Supervised), worth ≈ $297. It comes from using a valid referral link before you configure, and it's identical regardless of your charging habits.
Government incentive (your country, ongoing eligibility rules) — in the US, the federal clean-vehicle credit, worth up to $7,500 at the point of sale where eligibility rules are met (see the US country page for the caveats). It comes from the government, not Tesla, and has nothing to do with referrals or charging.
Paid Charging Membership (Tesla, ongoing, optional) — $12.99/month reported for North America, lowering your per-kWh Supercharging rate. It's a subscription decision you make independently, based on how often you actually Supercharge.

A dated worked example — stacking all three
