Tesla Referral Program: What Changed After March 2026

We wrote up the big March 2026 overhaul back in the spring. Three months on, here's what's actually shifted since then — dated July 13, 2026, so you're not working off a stale snapshot.

What hasn't changed

The core structure from March 2026 still holds worldwide: Model S and Model X remain removed from the referral program with no buyer benefit, North America's reward is still the 3-month free FSD (Supervised) trial, and the Cybertruck's eligibility is still narrowed to Premium AWD and Cyberbeast configurations. If you read our original recap, none of that has reversed.

What's new: the Netherlands' FSD approval

Dated caveat (verified 13 July 2026): the Netherlands approved FSD (Supervised) via the RDW on 10 April 2026 (~€99/month paid). As a result the Dutch referral reward may be moving from free Supercharging km to a free FSD trial. This one is genuinely in flux — treat the Supercharging figure as the safe default and confirm the exact benefit in Tesla's checkout before you order.

This is the single biggest open question in the program right now. It didn't exist when we first wrote up the March overhaul, and it means Dutch buyers specifically should treat the Supercharging figure as a "for now" default rather than a locked-in fact.

What's new: France's paid FSD subscription

There is no free FSD trial in France. FSD launched as a paid subscription (~€99/month) on 22 May 2026 — it is not a referral reward. The referral reward here is Supercharging.

That launch is worth flagging on its own, separate from the referral program: it means a French buyer who wants FSD can now get it as a subscription, but the referral reward itself in France is still 1,000 km of free Supercharging — the two are unrelated, and nothing about the referral changed because of the subscription launch.

What we're watching next

Two open threads worth tracking: whether the Netherlands' reward actually flips from Supercharging to an FSD trial, and whether other EU markets follow the Dutch regulatory approval on any similar timeline. Neither has happened yet as of July 13, 2026 — we're not predicting it will, just flagging that it's the live edge of the program.

Why we're separating this from the original overhaul post

The March changes were structural and global — they touched every market at once. What's happened since has been regional and gradual, which is a different kind of update and deserves its own dated post rather than a silent edit to the original. That's also why the original March 2026 changes post keeps its original publish date; this one picks up from where that one left off.

What this means for your referral link specifically

None of the regional shifts above change how the link itself works — you still click before you configure, and the code still attaches to your session the same way everywhere. What can change is which line shows up in your order summary once you get there. A Dutch buyer today should watch that line closely rather than assume it's still Supercharging by default; a French buyer should recognize that a paid FSD subscription and the referral's Supercharging credit are two unrelated things, not one upgraded into the other.

A word on how we track this

We don't guess at regional shifts — we follow the same primary sources every time: Tesla's own Refer and Earn page, plus trackers like Electrek and Not a Tesla App who cover program changes as they happen. When a figure or a benefit type is genuinely uncertain, like the Dutch reward right now, we say so rather than picking a number and presenting it as settled. That's also why we date every page instead of only claiming freshness.

If you're ordering in a stable market

Most of the program hasn't moved since March. If you're in the US, Canada, UK, France, Spain or Australia, the figures on your country page are unaffected by either of the two regional shifts above — the Netherlands is genuinely the one market in motion right now, and this post exists specifically so that uncertainty doesn't quietly bleed into pages where it doesn't belong.
